Q: When I load a VST plug-in into one of the buses of Notion3, none of the VST presets of the plug-in are available.

A: NOTION3 introduces built-in VST instrument presets ONLY for some of the top orchestral libraries available here.

Q: What are SoundFonts?

A: SoundFonts are a file format originally developed by Creative Labs, the makers of the "Sound Blaster" series of audio cards. SoundFonts are "simply" collections of audio samples, with key mapping parameters, encapsulated into a single file. You "load" the SoundFont *.SF2 format into Fantasize SoundFont Player and you immediately transform your VST host into a powerful instrument. because you can add several instruments/drumkits and can be modulated with Fantasize's functions and by MIDI Continuous Controllers.

Q: Why is there a delay between the moment I play a note on my keyboard, and the moment I hear the note through my speakers?

A: This delay is due to the latency of your soundcard. To get a better latency you should use a soundcard with ASIO drivers

Q: What's MIDI CC?

A: Short for "MIDI Continuous Controller", a specific kind of MIDI message. The modulation wheel of your synth, for example, sends out "MIDI Continuous Controller 1", or CC#1. Likewise, Volume is CC#7, GLIDE - Portamento Time is CC#5 -, etc.

Q: What's Additive Synthesis?

Additive Synthesis is a technique of audio synthesis which creates musical timbre. The timbre of an instrument is composed of multiple harmonic or non-harmonic partials (individual sine waves), of different frequencies and amplitudes, that change over time. Additive synthesis allows the emulation of sounds by giving control over the frequency and amplitude of each individual harmonic or partial.

Q: Do your plug-ins support MIDI CC?

A: Yes. Check individually on each plug-in page (or help button in GUI) for FULL MIDI Automation. We offer a precise definition of the MIDI Continuous Controller.

Q: What's vibrato and tremolo?

A: Confusingly, vibrato is sometimes referred to as tremolo. Basically, tremolo is variance in volume, and vibrato is variance in pitch.

Tremolo is a regular and repetitive variation in amplitude for the duration of a single note.

Vibrato is a musical effect where the pitch or frequency of a note or sound is quickly and repeatedly raised and lowered over a small distance for the duration of that note or sound.

Q: What's a free reed aerophone instrument?

A: A free reed aerophone is a musical instrument where sound is produced as air flows past a vibrating reed in a frame. Air pressure is typically generated by breath or with a bellows.

Soundflower is easy to use, it simply presents itself as an audio device, allowing any audio application to send and receive audio with no other support needed. Soundflower is free, open-source, and runs on Mac Intel and PPC computers. ...

Q: What about support?

A: We maximize our efforts to answer on all questions during one business day, even provide free support to unregistered users that want to buy our products.

Please before writing to us, take a look at the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) and if you can't find the answer you are looking for, send us an email with the following information:

Syntheway Product (Check that you have latest version)
Host Application (Name & Version number)
A very detailed description of the problem

We intend to respond to your queries, but we will naturally give priority to registered users.
Your inquiry will be answered in the order in which it is received. Sometimes due to the volume of e-mail received, there may be some delay.

Phone support: currently we don't provide phone-based support. We found that sometimes we need to request some test from the customers or we help you by giving a screenshot (screen capture) or video, or providing detailed information step by step about related issue (VST host application or VSTi software), or direct links to certain FAQ pages, so we found that support via email is more effective than phone-based support.
Anyway, we usually reply on emails during the same business day.

Q: What are the differences between the demo and registered versions of your software?

A: There are no many functional differences between the demo/shareware and registered versions. Registered users are entitled to discounts and in many cases to free upgrades. Basically the limitations of the unregistered / demo version are:

Same sound quality than the full version.

Allowed preset creation, edition or save. Be aware that certain sounds may not be available in some VSTi or may have a reduced key-range (see details in each product's page).

It generates a short beep in all output channels every 10 seconds.

Alternatively, trial period may expire after a certain number of executions.

The Registered Version does not have nagging sounds, contains full preset sounds and their use is unlimited.
