Avid Pro Tools and Blue Cat Patchwork
in macOS
Our plugins are
available in AU, VST, and VST3 formats. Pro Tools only supports AAX plugins
natively, so AU/VST/VST3 formats will not appear directly in Pro Tools. You
can try our AU/VST/VST3 demo versions use a third‑party “plugin host” or
“wrapper” such as Blue Cat Audio Patchwork or
DDMF Metaplugin. These run as
AAX plugins inside Pro Tools and allow you to load AU/VST/VST3 formats.
Blue Cat's PatchWork is a universal plug-ins
patchbay and multi FX that can host up to 64 VST, VST3, Audio Unit or
built-in plug-ins into any Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) in a single
instance, with both serial and parallel routing options.
Instructions:
1.- After unzipping the Syntheway plugin zip
files, place them in the correct system folders:
You
can use just one of them if you want, or if you prefer, have Audio Unit, VST
and VST3 just in case. Here are the paths (the same that you have other
plugins running with Patchwork):
-
Audio Unit (AU Component):
Place the *.component plugin and *.instruments folder in:
Macintosh
HD/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/
-
VST:
Place the *.vst plugin and *.instruments folder in:
Macintosh
HD/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST/
-
VST3:
Place the *.vst3 and *.instruments folder in:
Macintosh
HD/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/
Important: Scanning Plugins: Before loading, ensure PatchWork has scanned
your AU/VST/VST3 folders, which can be configured in the plugin settings.
2.- Loading the Plugin
in Pro Tools
Open Pro Tools and insert Blue Cat's PatchWork (AAX version) on a track.
Inside the PatchWork interface, click on an empty slot.
Select "Load VST", "Load VST3", or "Load AU".
Navigate to the paths mentioned above and select the plugin file
(*.component, *.vst or *.vst3 plugins)
Alternative: You can also drag and drop the plugin file directly from Finder
into a PatchWork slot.
3. The Syntheway AU, VST
or VST3 plugin will now run inside Patchwork, and you can use it just like
in any other DAW.
FAQ – Using Our Plugins
in Pro Tools
Q1: Why don’t your
plugins show up in Pro Tools?
Our plugins are available in AU, VST, and VST3 formats. Pro Tools only
supports AAX plugins natively, so AU/VST/VST3 formats will not appear
directly in Pro Tools.
Q2: Can I still use
your plugins in Pro Tools?
Yes. You can test our AU/VST/VST3 demo versions use a
third‑party “plugin host” or “wrapper” such as Blue Cat Audio Patchwork
or DDMF Metaplugin. These run as AAX plugins inside Pro Tools and
allow you to load AU/VST/VST3 formats.
Q3: Is installation
more complicated than other plugins?
It may feel more complex because of the extra step: you install our plugin
normally, then load it inside Patchwork or Metaplugin, which you insert as
an AAX plugin in Pro Tools. In other DAWs (Logic, Cubase, Ableton, etc.),
installation is straightforward since they support AU/VST/VST3 directly.
Q4: Do you provide
AAX versions of your plugins?
Currently, we do not provide AAX versions. If this changes in the future, we
will announce it on our website.
Q5: What is your refund policy? As our products
are digital downloads, they cannot be returned once downloaded. Refunds are
therefore not available, as stated on our website. Test our AU/VST/VST3 demo
versions before purchasing. We are always here to help you get the most out
of your purchase.
